Malana Trek ( Parvati valley )

 

Destination: Manali - Nawa Tapur - Malana - Pulga

Duration:  6 nights / 7 days

 

Day 1: Manali - Naggar - Nawa Tapru (3000 Mt)

A 21 km drive takes you to Naggar, the starting point of the trek and old capital of Kullu Valley. From there it takes about 5 hours to reach Nawa Tapru, the camp of the fist day. You pass village Ramsu, thick pine forest and ascending, grassy land. Nawa Tapru is situated on an open field, where you have a nice view of all surrounding mountain ranges.

Day 2: Nawa Tapru - Chanderkhani Pass (3660 Mt) - Malana (2652 Mt)

The trek leads through a carpet of high altitude flowers to Chanderkhani pass (3660 Mt) - a heaven for nature lovers. The peaks of Dhauladhar and Peer Panjal are in your full view. Until the end of June the top of Chanderkhani pass is useally covered with snow. From here you descend to Malana, a unique habitation which has maintained its own democratic system of government for many centuries. Camp near the village.

Day 3: Malana - Manikaran (1737 Mt)

Today you walk through a dense forest and at times along Malana river until you reach the village Jari. Transfer to Manikaran by jeep (about a 40 minutes drive). Stay in a hotel at Manikaran and enjoy the famous natural hot springs.

Day 4: Manikaran - Pulga (2100 Mt)

Walk uphill on a motorable natural road through cliffs and old villages besides river Parvati. Camp near village Pulga.

Day 5: Pulga - Khirganga (2960 Mt)

Today's trek leads through hilly terrain along dry rocks of Parvati river. Camp at Khirganga on open meadows.

Day 6: Khirganga - Pulga (2100 Mt)

You redescend to Pulga the same way you came up.

Day 7: Pulga - Manikaran - Manali

Back to Manikaran and from there drive by bus / jeep to Manali.
